about

Dayā, an EP with instrumental music played on modular synthesizer and Persian, Armenian and Balkan instruments. Voltmeister and Madhav Mystic Music are respectively the industrial musician Rikkert Achtereekte and the former Hindu monk Henk van Glabbeek. The music on Dayā's was created during free improvisations in the studio. Between two musicians with a completely different background. Out of great curiosity in each other's instruments and a desire to hear them sound together. Just before keeping distance became mandatory. Without a preconceived plan but guided by intuition, compositions of varying character were created. Dayā is music that evokes melancholy and compassion. In which you experience closeness and can relax. Because in these intense times, nothing is as luxurious as slowing down. Give space to yourself and others. Dayā is Sanskrit for compassion. To sympathize with the suffering of another. Compassion as a part of love. Especially now.

Henk van Glabbeek aka Madhav has been active in the field of mystical music since 1980, when he became a Hindu monk. He is a multi-instrumentalist with a love for instruments from Persia, India and other parts of the world. These instruments have their origins in ancient mystical traditions. As the founder of the One World Jam foundation in 2009, he met many musicians and instruments from ancient spiritual traditions. Henk performs in various groups with sound healing and meditation music.

Rikkert Achtereekte is a member of Voltmeister, a German-Dutch group that composes and performs with modular synthesizers. In addition to performances domestic and abroad Voltmeister hosts Square Wave, an open improvisation event for and by fans of the modular synthesizer. Although this time not accompanied by his two partners, Rikkert works on Dayā under the Voltmeister moniker. Because the trio sees Voltmeister as a platform for improvisation and collaboration with each other and beyond.
